Worth knowing before you convert

  • This makes files bigger, and that is expected: HEIC stores every pixel exactly, including detail your WebP had already discarded. On our reference image the file grew 241.8%. Convert this way when you need an editable or widely supported file — not to save space.

Your own file will land somewhere else — a photo, a screenshot and a flat logo compress very differently. What carries over is the direction and the rough scale.

Questions about WebP to HEIC

How do I convert WebP to HEIC?

Drop your WebP files onto the box above, pick a quality level if you want to override the automatic one, and press convert. The HEIC files download straight back to you — a single file on its own, or a ZIP when you convert several at once.

Is converting WebP to HEIC free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark, and no per-file charge. Conversion runs on our servers, so it does not depend on how fast your own machine is.

Are my files stored anywhere?

No. Files are held in memory only while the conversion runs and are discarded the moment the result is sent back. Nothing is written to disk and nothing is written to a database.

Will the quality drop?

WebP is lossless and HEIC is not, so some data is discarded. The quality setting is chosen automatically from the image's size and pixel count, which keeps the loss below what the eye picks up in normal viewing.

Why choose HEIC over WebP?

Apple's default camera format since iOS 11. Efficient on device, awkward everywhere else. Photos straight off an iPhone — usually the format you are converting away from. Browser support: Apple platforms; limited elsewhere, which is why conversion is common.
