Worth knowing before you convert
- JPG cannot store transparency. Anything transparent in your AVIF is flattened onto white before encoding, so a logo with a see-through background comes out on a white rectangle.
- Both AVIF and JPG are lossy, so this re-encodes an image that already lost some detail. The loss is small at our automatic quality, but it does not come back. Keep your original if you may need to convert again later.

Will the quality drop?
AVIF is lossless and JPG is not, so some data is discarded. The quality setting is chosen automatically from the image's size and pixel count, which keeps the loss below what the eye picks up in normal viewing.

What happens to transparency?
