Worth knowing before you convert
- Both JPG and AVIF are lossy, so this re-encodes an image that already lost some detail. The loss is small at our automatic quality, but it does not come back. Keep your original if you may need to convert again later.

AVIF stores every pixel it is given. It cannot restore detail that JPG already discarded, but it will not remove any more.
